5/15/20 The Wrong Missy? (Netflix Movie)

I know Adam Sandler movies are generally stupid and very much what a bro would call good comedy, but as silly as this movie was, I still enjoyed it quite a bit.  It had the unnecessary falls out of heights with no bones broken, such as when Missy falls off the cliff and misses the ocean, or when Spade walks on his hands and falls out a second floor staircase (just like he did in his college days' retelling of why he didn't drink).  I think because we saw it in the middle of the day with no expectations from it, other than we are trapped in the house and need light entertainment, it fit right in Javalina, Wife and I watched it with some frozen pizzas, it was just right for a Thursday afternoon.
David Spade plays the main guy and in the first scene goes out on a random date with a Missy, Lauren Lupkus, who is still not famous like Spade, but she has been around acting for a while, most recently on Big Bang Theory, for me.  She plays it way nutty and basically scares Spade into escaping out the bathroom window from his horrible date.  Fast forward three months and as he is going on a flight, he meets the perfect woman, they have the same luggage, are reading the same book, they don't drink alcohol, and on and on.  They have to fly off in different directions, but she does manage to give him her number and tells him to call her.  or whatever reason, her name is Melissa, but enters her name as Missy on his phone as well, let the comedy ensue.
Suddenly, his company is being bought out by another company and they are all to meet in a retreat in Hawaii and his friend suggests that this beautiful girl by his side will make him look more like the family man that needs to be promoted to lead whatever they do.  He starts out by texting her and she immediately responds with an "about time".  They get along easy and fast on text and he ends up inviting her along to which she says yes.  It turns out it is the crazy Missy from the first date and she is still acting weird.
Slowly, in the few scenes when she is not acting like a maniac, she tells Spade to always be himself and not play a role to impress others.  Spade starts falling for her and this is the part that I liked the best.  There is no such thing as a perfect woman or man.  I think the best partner is one that brings you out of your shell and makes you do things you wouldn't normally want to on your own.  Just when he has buy in and they start getting along perfectly, Missy sees on his phone that he was talking about her to the other Missy and the crazy one leaves, hurt.  By this point Spade has fallen for the wrong Missy and fights to get her back, even going as far as quitting his job to get away from something that was making him money but not making him happy.
The movie managed some tender moments amongst the chaos, but there was a lot of WTF! moments.  They almost have a 3-some with the babe from Scrubs, Sarah Chalke, only to see both of them accidentally punch and beat her out of the bed.  Since they are in Hawaii, there is the standard fight with a shark, which Rob Schneider handles pretty well as the boat captain, Komante.  If you don't have high expectations, this movie is pretty good.
