I just muttered "I don't know what to write about" and Boy says write about how it doesn't feel like Christmas. I have to agree, as we were getting food for Christmas and Eve and Day at the HEB in Buda, I couldn't help but notice that the shelves normally lined with all sorts of Christmas crap, like candies in ornament and candy cane shapes are all but gone. I managed to grab a box of chocolate pecans from the small selection left on the one shelf which could have easily been Valentine's candies. As a matter of fact, there was a guy taking down the shelves themselves and arranging it for the next big thing and from the looks of it, that would be Valentine's Day. The next row was already full of candies in heart shapes, which begs the question, why? There are still a couple of days left before Christmas Day and haven't we all seen hundred movies of the poor little kid who managed to get his shit together on Christmas Eve to buy that one important gift for his mother or whoever is important in his life?
I have to say I already was not feeling the Christmas spirit while looking at the weather and it sucks that it is going to be in the upper 80's on Saturday. We still haven't gotten around to decorating the house, other than Wife pulling out our old white tree and wrapping it a generic string of colored lights. The poor tree doesn't even have bulbs or any decorations, they are all still in the boxes. The stairs are still wrapped in Halloween lights.
We barely managed to get gifts for the niece and nephews at the last minute when we ended up going to Crystal City because my dad was feeling a little under the weather. It felt weird, usually we do a lot of shopping at Dillard's, they have an annual private sale, on a Sunday evening after the mall closes, but this year it came and went, and I didn't notice the flyer until after the event happened. Wife hasn't hardly shopped for her nephews, she simply said she'll wait until after Christmas and get gifts on sale.
To me it would all be more pleasant if it was cooler, like at least in the 50s. We are looking at mid 70's today and getting warmer here in the next couple days. We won't be seeing cold temperatures until we go back to work, which really sucks bolas. There is a little fun in feeling trapped in the house due to weather to allow the enjoyment of junk food and bad movies. Instead, it feels all nice like we should be out on a run or outside working on the yard. Meh. Maybe it will still freeze in January or February.
