It has been a long time coming but Boy passed the harder classes he has had to take a couple of times and is now down to one more, and it is almost a silly one, it is one of his first physics classes he should have, could have taken at ACC so many years ago. It sounds wrong, but that is the last class he needs to meet his degree requirements, he has been in conversation with a counselor or whatever and he just needs the one class. We are proud of Mijo, he has had a rough time because he has dyslexia, because he changed majors a couple times and because he probably needed to mature a little bit, if we are being honest.
Needless to say, he has always been an extremely hard worker and never expected anything given to him. He was a good worker at Alamo Drafthouse, we heard from coworkers when we would go to the movies, using his discounts, it was a great time, although still expensive even if he got us in for free. He was then a great employee at Nano, where he was in charge of their 3D printer labs until they shut that portion of the company down, he still got a lot of experience and was able to use that to springboard himself into a good job at his current place, not that I want to outright talk about it, but it is one of the bigger semiconductor companies in the area.
His boss knows that he was a couple classes short of finishing, and again, they haven't given him any special privilege in letting him focus on finishing his classes, he has had to do that on his own. He was helped tremendously by the home schooling efforts caused by Covid-19 more than a rear ago, which let him get some classes done without going to a physical classroom. I don't understand why colleges don't relax and just let that trend continue, if the work is getting done, why do they need the body sitting there in the classroom, other than to justify growing the campus to crazy sizes to keep up with the other area universities.
Either way, I will feel much better about him shopping for a house knowing that we at least are releasing him to society with a degree, he has a good job today, but you never know if tomorrow something happens and he is left out having to shop himself around, I think the degree is a good way of setting himself apart from the many other people constantly moving into the area to try their chance at the fortunes provided by our growing economy.
