It has been a long break from normal, and honestly, I think the break is something we needed, but now it is time for the kids to go back to school and learn to relate to each other face to face. Baby A starts his Junior year tomorrow, hard to believe he'll be 17 in a few months. Our big baby has grown up.
I was really expecting the school to offer another year of learning from home, and I think our son did okay with the set up, but so far they are only offering home learning for kids under 12, basically, those that can't get the vaccine. I don't know why, it has been shown that kids don't generally get the virus and when they do, it presents very mildly, most of the time. The vaccine has also had more than a few instances where people that got it had problems with their hearts enlarging and even worse, it has been shown time and time again that the vaccine does not prevent one from getting sick and even ending up in the hospital, so what is the point of getting a vaccine, much less why are they forcing the population to get vaccinated when it doesn't work like a normal vaccine. I expected if people got vaccinated, they would be safe, I even contemplated getting vaccinated so I wouldn't have to wear a mask at work, but even the vaccinated are now required again to wear a mask onsite in the buildings.
It will be an interesting year, the football team has already had two big breakdowns during summer training because there were a couple of positive cases. Baby A is at the end of his second 10 day quarantine. What really sucks is that the first two scrimmages were cancelled because of this news. The head coach called Wife to talk to her and explain that it is not his doing but the school district that requires the kids to stay home if they are not vaccinated for the 10 day quarantine. The coach said he lost almost all the freshmen and about half the linemen on varsity due to this rule, including our boy.
We shall see what happens with school. We went out and bought him new clothes, and school supplies. In typical fashion, we got him snacks so he can carry something in his backpack to eat during the day, but he was more focused on the idea of selling snacks on campus. When he was going to school, he had a little racket where he was the gum connection. We would buy him packs of gum and he would turn around and sell them. The boy needs a food truck for a car, he really thinks this way on his own, it has nothing to do with us. I would rather just give him some money, but that just gets him thinking of more stuff to buy to sell to the masses.
