4/30/22 Dancing And Snacks?

I think we did what we do best last night.  Technically, we attended the event and showed support, yet we were not tied down to a chair and stuck in one spot for two hours like everyone in the crowd was.  Wife and I "volunteered" to help at the Crockett HS 2022 Spring Dance Show, which meant we got roped into running the concession stands from 6:00-9:00pm.  It sounds like a horrible spot to be stuck in, but it really wasn't that bad.
We got there at 6:00pm and Baby A had stayed after school, so he was already there working the door with about 5-6 other football players.  He was taking his job so seriously, the Ass, that he didn't want to let us in because he was told not to let people in until 7:30pm.  He and another husky boy were standing sentry directly in front of the two doors, and they weren't opening unless the two knuckleheads moved.  As soon as we got past them, the lady in charge got all excited (she is one of the few people that can keep up with Wife's energy), and quickly moved out of the way and explained what the prices were set at.  Basically, the table with the good stuff, chocolate candy bars (Snickers, M&Ms, Kit Kats), 20oz sodas were set at $2.  The other table was $1 (water bottles, fruit roll-ups, etc).  We were set up right by the front door, so we were in the middle of all the action as people eventually were let in by the flock of guards outside.
The lady in charge was complaining to us a bit that it is frustrating, for example, this was a drill team event, but none of the parents seem to want to volunteer and help.  She made the last-minute plea on the football chat thing and got us, another couple of parents were there and all the guys that were volunteered by their parents.  I enjoy looking off to the side and Mijo is having a blast surrounded by a bunch of his friends, so it is all the same to us.  When the show started, the boys were allowed to close the front door and still see the girls do their thing.  It lasted two hours, they not only had the drill team perform, but the cheerleaders were there too, there was a group from the theater group, and even little elementary girls showed up and performed.  I peeked in a couple of times, and they were doing what dancers do, so I felt like I got the gist of it.
We met a couple of the parents of the girls we do know, two of the dancers are also wrestlers, so that was fun.  Afterwards, we took Mijo and some of his friends with us to eat dinner, Wife had already said she felt like eating Mexican food.  The meal was good, but we didn't get home until close to midnight.  It was a fun evening, considering I had been locked in for a week.
