5/19/21 These FotherMuckers!!!

Goddamn this fucking Austin city council and their bullshit.  For a second all seemed to have found a way to correct itself at the will of the people, the camping ban had been reinstated and it seemed but a matter of time before we started seeing our streets cleaned up and maybe even have regular citizens out walking for enjoyment, or kids riding their bikes to the local corner store, but no.  A couple weeks after voting was done and the homeless seemed to have been forced out, the city as a plan, they are going to give them the city park land for their use.  I wouldn't care if it was on the other side of town, but the local park that butts up to our neighborhood is on the list.  It is bad enough that we have the occasional stoners from Akins High School come out and hang at our gazebo, at least they're kids.  If the homeless are given Mary Moore Searight, they will essentially become our neighbors, legally.

That I'm sure is going to cause our home values to skyrocket, I mean the people from California coming and driving prices sky high are used to their activity, so it'll be a plus for them.  It's bad enough I was already talking to Wife about the possibility of moving, this would surely seal the deal.  Wife just started working in San Antonio and is commuting back and forth, if we got a home out in New Braunfels or San Marcos, we could both commute and split the difference.  I don't really want to do that, but fuck, I don't like what is happening to Austin.  We don't have a decent mall anymore, Barton is there, but they don't even have an authorized Rolex seller anymore, that just screams generic mall.  You can't go anywhere anymore without getting stuck in some sort of gridlock pretty much any time of day, forget trying to go up north to Ikea or something in the middle of the day, it is going to take hours.

Wife just said she heard a report that Austin's median house price could top $600,000, it is at $550,000 right now, setting new records.  I just looked at Zillow and my jaw dropped as it says our house has a Zillow estimate of $697,000.  There is no way that can be true, but other similar houses in the neighborhood are also in the upper $600k region.  That is just ridiculous, my son with a good engineering job can't find a house he can afford but the city is going to give city park land to the homeless.  Once that happens, it will be near impossible to call it a park and regular people will have to forfeit its use, that is a pretty sad note.  There was a time when we went to that park almost weekly to play disk golf or have the kids run around on their bikes and riding miniature trucks.

I'll put up with it for another two years so Baby A can graduate in the high school he is attending, but then I do believe we'll be looking to get out of this liberal created shithole.  Shame, I loved this place when I came here in 1991.
