6/9/19 Mediocre Restaurant?

I didn't want to use the word shitty because we didn't get sick, but man, nothing about the meal we had yesterday struck us as original or good.  We went to Trigo or Traigo or something like that, it was hard to read the sign in the flashy font they used.  I use the word mediocre because again, nothing was horrible, but everything seemed off.  First off, there are three of them in town and Wife assumed it was the closest one to my in-law's house, but after arriving, we found out there was no one there.  Wife then called knucklehead sister and she kept describing it as "it is in the Rim shopping center."  Not to be mean, but the young idiot should have said next to Bass Pro Shops, they know I try to go there every time we go down there.  We literally parked in the Bass ProShops parking lot amongst the boats in plastic covers since all the parking for the restaurant seemed to be by valet, I'm not paying to park.
That was strike 1, the next one was the heat.  The main doors faced the sunset, so the whole entrance area was covered in nothing but 101 degree sun and heat.  It wasn't bad enough they sat us with my back to the tortilla makers and their hot stove, but every time the door opened, it was like being greeted by the desert, I half expected a vulture or a snake to roam in.  It never felt cool or comfortable to sit there.
Wife had looked at the menu beforehand and mentioned The Works Fajitas came with cheese to dip the chips as an appetizer, then we were to have a mixture of beef and chicken with fried onions and bell peppers, a side plate with rice, beans, guacamole, salsa, and to finish a slice of chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream.  This sounded awesome, if the delivery were only so good.  The cheese looked like it had too much water and runny.  Wife gave up on the beef as they had no flavor.  I gave up on the chicken as I thought it was a bit like plastic.  The tortillas, even though they seemed to be made onsite were nothing special either.
The best part of our meal was probably the chocolate cake, it was honestly good and then they added some cinnamon to the vanilla ice cream giving it a different taste.  Wife said the chocolate cake was made with "abuelita's chocolate" which gives it that different taste as well.  I would say maybe I was wrong and influenced by the heat and being uncomfortable, but then the boys both told us in the car that their meals were kind of lame and there was nothing to them.
Maybe going when it wasn't as hot and maybe getting a different plate would/could have made things better, it is hard to find that many things wrong at once.  The rest was good.  Our waitress kept bringing drinks and chips and stuff.  The food came out fast enough and we had more than one person bringing us drinks, so everyone was attended to quickly, it's just the meal itself was very meh.
