9/11/21 Twenty Years Since The 9/11 Attack?

Time marches on, indeed.  It is hard to believe that we are now twenty years removed from the worst attack on American soil, Pearl Harbor is the only other incident that comes close but that cost the Japanese two nukes up their ass, so there's that.  The 9/11 attacks as we know them was when a group of malcontents used our own technology against us and caused a shock that we are still feeling to a certain extent today.  We had been lax and trusted one and all boarding the jets Americans created to fuel the travel we enjoy today as humans to go anywhere in the world.  These lowlifes then boarded our planes because we trusted humanity, and they turned our beautiful transport devices into weapons and took down the two towers, partially damaged the Pentagon, and it is believed from anecdotal evidence that the brave people on a fourth jet fought the enemy and sacrificed their lives crashing that plane out in a field which might otherwise have been aimed at the white house.

This attack was hard because it wasn't really a country we could go and attack, it was a small swath of ultra religious zealots.  As a country we have the power to destroy any other country and the weapons to back that sentiment up, but when it is done by cowards who proclaim loudly that they hate us but hide behind innocent women and children, it becomes next to impossible to destroy them without collateral damage.  As much as the rest of the world might think of us as bullies because we can and have shown our might everywhere in the world, we have also fight from a position of right because our forces are there to eliminate the enemy, not everything in sight.

Although the attacks were one of the worst black eyes for our country, it did bring us together as a nation, it's almost like we need something like that to bring our country together again right now, not that I would want another large scale attack upon us, it does work to bring people together.  In a sense, this might be why there are still Taliban forces in the middle east, we have just stayed there the last twenty years enforcing our will upon them.  I believe we needed to leave the area, I just don't think it was done the best way possible and upon realizing the Taliban forces were taking over, we should have gone back and destroyed the cache of weapons we left for the Afghanistan forces which dissipated much too quickly.

America is an amazing place and it hurt for a while, what was done to us, but it was never going to stop us as the idiots in charge thought.  It may have taken awhile, but eventually we got Bin Laden, two faced piece of shit talking about righteousness yet getting murdered at night in a compound surrounded by porn and women like a teenage boy.
