8/27/19 Boy Continuues To Impress Me With His Side Hustles?

Boy came home a couple weeks ago and said they had limited his hours at work.  They want him to continue doing the same amount of work, but for only 15 hours of pay a week.  It is supposed to be something to keep the interns in line, but since he has a few years there, he is more of an employee than an intern, still, no degree, no official title.  Well, fast forward and now they are going to bend the rules and allow him to work on some projects from home for pay.  It seems to pay having these 3-D printers and now being good at using them.  He just shrugs like it's no big deal that he is working on designing some images they came up with.  He is charged with making them come to life by making 3-D representations to present at some meeting where some toy manufacturers are going to show up.  It's like he can't be slowed down.  He has also been working on this cowboy hat sized Kubone head, which is from the Pokémon world which they plan on showing off in an amateur contest at the next comic con they are going to this weekend.  He says they are putting a price tag of $300 to it.  A friend from Dallas has already asked for a copy to be made later when he is not so busy.  Along with this, they are making a more weight friendly sword to carry and hopefully sell at the convention as well.  They made the hilt on the 3-D printer and the blade was cut from a thick piece of orange plastic he ordered from Amazon.  The idea is to run a light inside the hilt and the neon orange color of the blade will carry the light and look shiny and cool in the dark.  They also have a shield which they took a round glass globe and slowly cut it in half and attached it to the shield.  This green orb has a light and it shines in a cool fashion.  It is a sight to see him in his room, this is what he does.  Saturday night, he was sitting there polishing the Kubone head after priming it.  His GF was sitting there sewing stuff and there friend was wiring one of the projects for a light effect.  I fucking love that they don't piss away a weekend drinking and wasting time, they seem to be productive all the time.
Just another quickie, the GF said it was fall weather time and if we wanted a scarf, she would make one for each of us.  I quickly said no, I am fat enough, I don't need stuff around my neck, no offense.  I was then talking to Boy today about how his day was going and he mentioned that the GF already had 15-20 orders for scarves to sell.  At $20-$30, that is a nice bit of money for the pocket, just as she fiddles and keeps her hands busy while watching a TV show or something.
