7/10/16 Hiding From The Water?

I have always loved summertime.  Girls run around in bikinis, more than half naked, just to get wet, what's not to like?  In the spring it seemed great, specially with the constant rains, hearing the lakes were filling back up to even over 100% full.  What could go wrong, this would be the best summer.  Then we heard about flesh eating bacteria on the coast.  By the third report of someone getting infected, we have heard enough.  My in-laws keep asking "when are you coming to Rockport?"  We just act like we're still busy with this and that.  I am a little afraid.
If that is not bad enough, Schlitterbahn has now had some reports of an outbreak of some staph infections, although I just went on their Facebook page and they are saying that was made up, there have been no reports to the area hospitals, so I am not sure.  On the other hand, our friends said they went 4th of July, and it was so packed all they could do was enjoy the wave pool, so even if we wanted to pay the $150 a head for the season tickets, I'm not sure we would have a Master Blaster good time.
Here's a weird one, thinking about going to the area lakes, most of the lakes along the Colorado River are closed this summer due to too much rain.  The lakes have been flooded for awhile now and they are slowly bringing down those water levels by opening the dams to let water run downstream.  Opening the dams is causing rushing waters, so that is another safety concern for swimmers, and because the water is so much higher than normal, visibility through the water is still hard as the water remains murky.
We are down to the pool in our backyard, which is ok.  We have about outgrown it, but if it is just us, we are fine.  Our friends were here last night and I sat outside for a minute, almost decided to jump in when the kids came all excited outside that they were going to jump in the water.  I don't want to be creepy and be in the water with a bunch of tweeners, so I backed off, then after they spent twenty minutes getting dressed, they backed off from the idea, it was too dark outside for them.  I should take the time to clean the hot tub, that is really my first love, when it comes to sitting in water.  It is not really dirty, just dirt and dust settle on the bottom because it is always open to the elements.
Anyhow, we are almost halfway through the summer, and at this point I would take a river if it isn't contaminated.  Girlie was talking to Wife about a watering hole in Kyle that is open until 9pm.  That sounds like the kind of place that could be fun, but we shall see.
Wife will remind me we have tickets to Aquatica, but I hate getting soaked wet, then walking around with thousands of peeps to watch shows.  What are you, Sea world or a water park?  They need to decide what they are.
