12/7/15 Hugging, Stepping Stone To Loving Humans?

I am still reading The Lucifer Principle and the latest chapter seems to simplify things way too much, but I do want to agree with his scientific claims.  He boils down to hugging being the greatest difference between western and arab cultures.  Men, specifically, are frowned upon to engage in forms of affection.  Once a child reaches the age of 12-13, they are separated from the females and from this point start becoming men, and it is seen in bad form to comfort young males with hugging or forms of love.
Even with their spouses, they go through life not showing excitement at seeing each.  "In relationships between the sexes, a display of caring is despicable.  Anger is what wins repect."  There is another example of when a lack of physical affection has gone hand in hand with a love of inflicting pain.  These were the children of sixteenth and seventeenth century England.  Displaying love to your kids was considered inappropriate.  It seems, young children, cursed by the original sin of Adam, still carried the devil within them.  His Satanic majesty could only be chased away with a good thrashing.
These children tethered chickens in the yard, then pelted them with stones, to death.  These same children grew up with a love for violence.  Instead of attacking chickens, they would set dogs on bulls for sport.  The british didn't restrict thir delight in pain to animals, they whipped and hung their criminals in public.  Huge crowds would gather to watch.
A few hundred years later, the British meme changed and they started showing their children a bit more affection and soon the scenes of brutality in English streets came to an end.   Public warmth between Arab men and women and men and children is still considered an evil.  Perhaps if this small symbol of affection, a hug, can weave its way into their society, perhaps a change can occur.
I fear a culture which doesn't hesitate to send off its youngest in sacrifices which promise rewards in an afterlife which may not even exist.  But if they don't understand the simplicity and beauty of a hug here on earth, what are they going to do with 72 virgins in the afterlife?
