8/2/20 Solving Wife's Living Situation?

I liked the idea of buying a piece of land near Crystal City, the one with riverfront we looked at a couple years ago is still available, but she says she wouldn't be comfortable living and sleeping out in the country by herself.  I get that, so we have to find a better answer.  She was toying with the idea of just driving back and forth as she has been doing the past few weeks.  This could almost work, but she will wear out that poor Telluride way before we even pay for half of it.  After finding the mobile home and RV to be too expensive, we were talking about getting another cheap car to just abuse as a daily driver for her.  I still don't want her in a piece of shit old car, so I was looking in Autotrader.com for something newer than 2018 and then she said she preferred it be an SUV.  This pretty much had us looking at Kia Souls, which I said "NO!"  You already burned one up, how about a new Ford Ecosport, which is the tiniest Ford SUV and even new, can be found for $17,995.  We were all set to go look at them the next day (Saturday), but her mom called and said she found a solution.
Her sister has rental units in Crystal City, so my mother in law had called to ask how much they would cost if she had a unit available.  Unfortunately, she said she didn't have any at the moment.  She told her to call one of her daughter's in law, they also have some units.  She then called her and she did not have apartments available, but she had this kind of unique space that her husband's sister, Wife's cousin, had been staying in.  I believe it is part of their house, but with a separate entry and it has a bedroom and a bath and even a small kitchen area.  Other people have asked to rent it, but they wouldn't because it is too close to them, but since Wife is family, they said she could stay there for free, to boot. This is great news.
Wife called her and said her sister in law lived there but had just moved out and they had been thinking of setting up the room as a quarantine space in case anyone got sick, but that Wife could use it.  She said they have been using the space as storage and there are things like Christmas trees and decorations there.  Wife said that would not bother her, she comes in late from work and just needs a place to lay down and shower.  The cousin in law (I guess that is what she is) told her that it gets hectic on the weekends because her husband is home and they grill in the backyard and have all sorts of family over.  Wife said that is not a problem as she leaves to Austin from work Friday afternoon and doesn't come back until Monday mornings where she goes straight to work.  They would only see Wife Monday afternoons after work until Thursday evenings and then she spends the weekends with us in Austin.
It sounds like at least for now, we don't have to go spending crazy amounts of money so that Wife can continue working down there.  She still has a couple of interviews she hasn't heard from, so I am still hoping they call her and offer her a position so she can come back home.
