6/17/17 Wonder Woman (2017)

We finally saw what all the fuss about this girl hero was about, and man, she did not disappoint.  She is first of all, a stunning beauty, I don't know where Hollywood was hiding her, but wow, she is nice.  Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman in the latest attempt, and I think they got it right.  She is created of clay and desired by the queen more than anything" or so the queen of the Amazons tells her.  By the time she is full grown she has been taught to fight by all the Amazonian Women and then a guy shows up.  Of course, the guy is handsome enough to make her immediately want to follow him wherever he is going.
It turns out the island is in the middle of where the fighting is taking place in the water, and although they have peace on their island, they find out most every country is involved, by the timing I would say World War I.  Princess Diana goes against her mother's wishes and she leaves with Steve who claims to be a British spy in a German outfit, when he crashes on the island.  He has a notebook which he stole from the Germans and they are planning to use chemical weapons to tilt the battle in their favor.  Diana is sure that the evil being manifested is not Ludendorff, but Aries in disguise.  Steve rounds up a small gang and they head to the front of the battle.  They have been at a standstill for almost a year, but Diana heads out in open field where she gets shot at by all the bad guys and this is enough of a distraction to allow the men to charge and take the trenches with the Germans.  In the process they also free a city, which seems good, but this is then punished by that city being bombed with the poison gas the next day.
Diana at a certain point just becomes Wonder Woman, she is larger than life, and inspires men to fight.  She confronts Ludendorff, but he turns out not to be Aries in disguise.  Aries finally presents himself and there is much philosophical discussion about how shitty we humans are.  How we squander our gift from god, how all we know how to do is destroy.  He claims that man is happiest when he is in this state, of war.  If you look to both sides, both sides seem to enjoy killing, so it is futile to try and stop the slaughter.
Wonder Woman has a second where she starts thinking maybe he is correct, but then remembers Steve who just sacrificed himself so that everyone else could live.  This reminds her there is good in the world, if you look.  Thinking about Steve who represented good in the world, made Diana stronger and ultimately was able to overcome Aries.  All she really needed to do was believe that she could, because that is what she was created for by Zeus, she was a god killer.
I like how they tested the waters with her last year in the Batman movie, and then committed to her full heartedly.  She is already locked in for Justice League, which looks good, and the fact that Wonder Woman already cracked 100million, so I am sure we will see WWII
