12/9/16 Feeling Mexicano?

I woke up feeling like I wanted some Mexican food, and I wasn't thinking Taco Bell, Wife.  It has been a very busy week but it has also been pretty nice with Wife in town.  She got out of her conference early enough to join us for lunch yesterday and today.  She has told us to stop eating out every day, but this is special, because she is here.  We had Wendy's yesterday which was ok, but I could not decide on anything from Southpark Meadows today.  Because of traffic, sometimes I think it is easier to loop around to William Cannon and Congress to head back home after picking up Chubs.  Hidden in plain sight, with plenty of Mexican signs and pictures of food, was our destination for the day.
The place we ate at was called "Las Delicias" which says it is a combination Taqueria, bakery, and carniceria along with a standard mini market.  Taqueria is basically a place where tacos and other Mexican foods are sold.  Bakery in this sense means Mexican pastries which are different than American donuts, and quite delicious with some coffee.  Carniceria is a meat market, and although we were not shopping for meat, they did have some good looking meat and a man who looked like he spent his days cutting it.  They managed to fit a pretty large fruit/vegetable area in that tiny building too.
I love a good barbacoa taco, when it is real it is meat from the head of a cow, usually cooked in the ground in a hole wrapped in palm leaves.  I got the feeling it was real barbacoa because of the huge chunks of fat/gristle and funky texture on the meat.  I ordered two tacos, but got three.  The boys were kind of scared and ordered by looking at the pictures and only after Chubs whined if we could eat somewhere else.  Boy played it safe and ordered a gordita which he said was too messy.  I asked "but was it good?"  he said "yeah", so then who cares if it was messy, you finished it.  Wife also got three taquitos, small tacos, she said they were good as well.  We all had the aguas dulces, sweet waters.  Mine was flavored as pineapple, Chubs and Boy had a red drink.  Usually, there are little chunks of pineapple, this one did not have the little chunks.  I couldn't decide what it was, it is not soda, and it is not juice, so what else can it be?  Wife said it is made from a powder?  Maybe, it had a metallic after taste, like it came from a can though.
I got some stuff from the bakery and what I have tasted so far, is pretty good.  It is a shame that places like this get overlooked by the general population because everything seemed good, it is just in a sketchy looking building
