8/31/17 Hurricane Harvey Still Being A Pain In The Ass?

I was expecting rain all week after what they were saying on the news this weekend, but by Monday afternoon, we could sense that the rain was about gone.  I had been thinking the usual, that they hype anything to make it greater than it is.  Adding to that, Wife said that west Texas didn't really appear to have gotten much rain at all.  From my eyes just doing my daily routine, Chubs has started his football playing days in very mild August weather.  It has been in the 80's and barely 90's this week at 4:00-5:00pm, so he is not feeling the true feeling of playing football in Texas.  On top of that, Mr. Big Head does not have a helmet, so his head is not sweating encapsulated in hard plastic.  We will have to go shopping for a helmet which the school will reimburse us for the purchase.
So I was sitting with one of my coworkers complaining in the morning as I usually do.  One of my older coworkers showed up and mentioned her experience over the weekend.  She said that she got something like 24 inches of rain over in Lockhart, which is pretty close to Austin.  Judging by how much the pool water came up I would say we got about 8-9 inches of rain at our house.  We do not live that far apart from each other, but she was stuck in her house for two days because creeks on either side of her rose and flooded the streets.  We must be some sort of lucky.  Worst problem for us was getting wet while going out shopping for football cleats and eating dinner.  I headed out not thinking the lights and power could be out in parts of the city, or we might get in an accident, but hardly anyone was out.
The incredible part is that Harvey is not done yet.  It managed to get back out in the gulf and came back on land further East of Houston.  Beaumont got over two feet of rain before Harvey downgraded to a tropical depression and moved on into Louisiana.  When it first made landfall, there was one reported death, tragic, but a very low headcount for such a big storm.  Now, after going through and flooding Houston with 50 inches of rain, there are at least 37 dead, and many more missing.  It is projected to take many years to recover for the Houston area, probably for most of the coastal city's affected, but if one looks at the weather, they are already tracking another center that could become another Hurricane in a couple days.  It is too early to say where it is going, but it is kind of low in the Caribbean, where they seem to line up to make it into the Gulf.  It is scary to think another wave from another big mass of rain could come if that Hurricane lines up as well, but it could happen.
