Chubs started this conversation Friday afternoon, he was trying to be funny saying that feminists have ruined America or something to that point, stating that he heard it from his uncle. Luckily for him, his mom is a bit of a feminist, so he was corrected pretty quick. I always like to joke with this topic because I have a mom and a wife both with plenty of energy from the feminist movement. Mom has always been our family's matriarch, and Wife considered herself a bully until we met.
Nothing gets Wife going faster than me cracking a few gender jokes, such as "shouldn't you be in the kitchen making tortillas barefoot?"
She won't admit it, but she is a bit of a feminist, believing the notion that anything men can do, women can also do. I don't think it is about ability, to me it's more about why push into everything? For example, women have been able to join the military for a long time, but they hadn't been allowed to fight on the front lines until 2015. Did feminists do women a favor here or help the US military overall? War is a horrible thing, unfortunately the powers that be seem to like us in perpetual war against someone, all the time. That being said, expect plenty of women to end up like the male population, the same assholes that send our fine young men to war, also refuse to budget properly to take care of them when they are done and incorporated back into society. There will be an increase in homeless women, women needing prosthetic legs, women needing VA care and complaining about that. All this doesn't even get into the discussion of can they do the job properly? When a man is down, can they help carry him out? Can women go weeks in a hot zone without facilities? It is a fact that fighting women are young so they will have their monthly cycle to deal with.
I do support that they were needed in the beginning, we are all equal and we should all have the same opportunities and access to the same things. If not for feminists, women might not be able to vote. They also might not be able to go to school. We know better now, women tend to do very good in school, I have seen studies, even better than males in the early years, so if they can handle the workload and the stress, let them be doctors and lawyers and such.
This is what needs to happen in the middle east, women need to stand up and fight for their rights. Those ignorant men are not going to give up their power on their own. They are treated as men's things right now. A man can have a couple wives if he can afford them over there.
Sorry Chubs, but I cannot agree completely with my brother. He might have a point that lately, they seem as effective as Don Quixote fighting the windmills in the distance. There was a time for which society as a whole should thank that type of woman that stands up and fights for what she believes in. We are a better place because of them, if you don't believe that, look to the middle east where women have very little control
