10/24/18 Mendez Mavericks Met Their Maker?

Finally, we get to eat of the sweet nectar of victory, our men get to loot and pillage, then with draw with hefty parcels of winnings.  I still don't entirely understand how it works, but even though our boys of Bedichek finished a woeful 0-6, they participated in this city tournament.  They were put up against another 0-6 team and in comparison, our boys looked like dominating monsters.  Everything worked, I don't understand why it took so long to look this good.
From the first play, the QB just took it on a sweep around the left end and was able to run it in about 45 yards for a TD.  It seemed every time they touched the ball, they went back with negative yardage.  Not until the third series for them did a running back break through the center of the defense and literally ran into and over the last safety who could have stopped him and he went about 80 yards for a TD.  I got worried that he would do more of that, but he never did.  Our boys were constantly in their backfield, their QB was constantly harassed and it was definitely a different feeling.  I asked Javalina what happened, why were they so different and he said they went with a different quarterback.  This kid was actually throwing passes that were getting caught, that helped out a whole bunch.  The kid who had been QB was playing running back, he does run the ball pretty good, so everybody was happy.  Javalina did not have any solo tackles, but he enjoys fighting in the trenches proving that he is the strongest kid in there.  He said he had the biggest guy against him and he was huge but very slow, so he was able to push him around all night, that had him flying high while we ate and drove home.
While walking around to the car, we got close to the other team and he kind of mouths to himself and us that he wants to yell "fuck you, Losers!" and I spanked him, saying "don't you dare, little A-hole!"  Show some class, remember how you felt ALLL those other times you all lost, come on!  Then he says "yeah, but they were cheating, grabbing me by the shirt and my hand got stepped on (by his own teammate), but he cooled off.
They play next week their final game, I have loved watching these games even if the weather is shady and the stadiums are a bit old.  This field tonight even had real grass, the first time all season instead of artificial turf.  The final score was 36-6, it was not that close.
