7/12/17 What Happened To Slut Shaming?

Wife loves watching lame movies, the lamer the better for her.  She is in town this week for a conference, so it has been nice to have her around, now that she has calmed down from wanting house cleaned a certain way.  Anyways, she was relaxing while I was getting ready for work and she was watching The Witches Of Eastwick, I think, with Cher, Jack Nicholson, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer, to name a few.
I was chuckling with Wife in the scene where one of them is shopping in a supermarket and all the ladies slowly gather around one of them and they quietly, but effectively, call her a slut.  Try that nowadays, and the girl is coming back with her boyfriend and "some bitches getting knocked out!"  It used to be that in all the movies there was a backdrop of decency that people lived up to.  What happened to that?  Today, if a fight breaks out, some idiot is going to yell "Worldstar!" and twenty phones will be trying to record it to get it on youtube or one of the many online websites.  I was always for liberal values, if they wanna "burn their bras", cool, maybe we'll see some boobies flying around.  I never liked the FCC controlling what we could and could not listen to.  Growing up, nobody had a right to take my Ozzy or whatever heavy metal music I wanted to listen to.
Well, here we are, twenty years later.  Adult supervision stopped being supervision and we all just became a world of gawkers and junkies of the absurd.  The party is supposed to be stopped by the cops at 9:30-10:00pm.  When it rages on all night, no good comes from that, you end up with the neighbor's dog in the Hibachi, at best fondling the big ass of your neighbor, at worst, her husband.
It became a pain in the ass for MTV to carry the burden for us teenagers in the 80's, but then the internet arrived.  Suddenly, we didn't care what the FCC said, they had no control over this new media, I don't know why, but it was like the parents left for a really long weekend and I was allowed at myself with my dad's porn stash, only with the internet, it just keeps coming in fresh and full of 18 year olds constantly.
Although it seemed silly in the movie, shaming needs to make a comeback.  Carolla always said in his podcasts, we should shame people.  Whether on welfare, or running around half naked where it is not appropriate.  Maybe it is too late, that is why I stopped fighting the Trump thing.  Maybe we do need to get our asses kicked back a couple generations, get us back to when we were a great country.  Currently, we are not.  We stinky, we've been out partying with some bad hombres, impregnating bad women, creating a generation of stupids.
We need a hero right about now.  Someone to call us on our shit.
