Like I always say, no good deed goes unpunished. Back in September 9 of 2016, I decided to be a nice guy and cut the grass so Boy wouldn't have to worry about it. It was the first few weeks of Wife working away from home and I was trying to keep it all in line. Today, I went and saw the surgeon who moved about a square inch of skin from my thigh to close to my ankle and he finally said it looks to be about healed, there is no need to come and see me any more. Keep doing whatever you are doing, it is almost healed.
If anything, I have learned that it is terribly expensive to have a doctor caring for you. They play such bullshit games though. I started by going to Victory Medical. They wanted to do a physical since I was going to be a new patient. Fine. They find that I have a thyroid issue and low T so of course they want to re-do the tests before they give me any medications. I re-do the tests. First problem is the charge. The first blood tests were my copay of $25 and a second bill of like $30. Ok, then when I volunteer for the second set of blood tests, I get a bill for $1100. I did not pay this bill. Why should there be such a freaking disparity? Plus, I went in to heal a gash in my leg, me becoming a woman with no testosterone is neither here nor there in order of importance.
I am told to start going to a wound clinic, which I am not even sure how they are going to bill me and for them to not know either is ridiculous. It was a specialist and I was supposed to go twice a week in the beginning, I was thinking the $50 a visit would be maybe paid once a week, but I was wrong. The guy at the counter was real nice about letting me not pay and dealing with it later. A month goes by quickly and soon those copayments were over $350 for the first month, then when it was only once a week it was only $200 a month. I thought, Ok, they are expertly wrapping my leg. It might be worth the $50 a trip. Nope, at some point the hospital decided they wanted a cut, even though I wasn't going to a hospital. They charged me a more realistic bill in the hundreds of dollars per month. Suddenly, I had a bill for $450, $600, $1100, $320, it was a good thing the doctor there gave it about four months before he suggested the surgery.
The surgery was cheaper, there was no charge for the initial visit, the day of the surgery was like a week later, I was charged by everybody that day. The hospital wanted $366, the anesthesiologist wanted another $300, the doctor only charged me one or two copays of $50, but he got at least $14,000 from my insurance. Oh, and I had a little pump on the skin graft for five days which I still owe $411.
I am slowly paying most of the stuff down, thanks to my renters, all their money is currently taking care of that. I even went back to Victory Medical and I think I am now ready to see about this low T, I keep hearing commercials about it and some of the guys at my work are dealing with it. If it solves my tiredness/sleepiness issue, then cool, because that issue sucks. If I can follow it with results like those old men on youtube where they are cut like 20 year olds, but they are in their 60's, even better.
