Our younger boy had an end of year party a week late. He was trying to get it organized for the Saturday right after school ended, but most of his friends had prior plans. No problem. He rescheduled the party and after attending the party for the kid Friday night at Altitude, he even invited that kid over, so he had about 8 boys here last night. I'm not saying one was better than the other, but they are different. Where Boy had a friend here pretty much every weekend and if we didn't say anything, some would stay longer, Javalina has always been more of a once semester as far as sleep overs. He likes hanging with his friends, but that boy needs to decompress by himself for a day after they leave. We found this out on the first or second sleepover he had. We thought it easy to make it a two night event instead of what started out as one night. He had a mild panic attack and cried because he wanted everybody gone.
He is much better now, but his sleepovers are still one night and done. As soon as the last kid left around noon, he took a shower and he has been lounging on the sofa and guest bedroom downstairs. It feels nice, he is close by but not necessarily on our lap. As a matter of fact, Wife got after Boy for starting little projects and he has had small table which he had said he was going to take apart and strip so he could repaint it. Mama jumped on that boy, saying if he didn't finish that project this weekend, she would be throwing the table away next week, when she came back. Boy is about done painting right about now (4:20pm).
As far as Javalina's party, it went about as good as we could have hoped for. Wife and I went to go get meat and supplies for a BBQ at 5:30pm. Javalina stayed here in case the friends started showing up. By the time we came, they were all swimming in the pool. I quickly cut the watermelon we bought and took it out so they could have some while in the pool. I then got to making the jalapeno bombers which actually are a pain in the ass to make. In the meanwhile, I told Boy to get the grill started, which he did. Eventually, we got some chicken wings going, some corn on the cob, burgers, sausages, and some pork pieces. Everything was good last night, other than we were eating around 10:30pm. At the same time all this was going on, Girlie was trying to get us buzzed or drunk. I had a few coolers that I mixed with Jägermeister and that got a buzz going pretty quickly. We were up and in bed by 2:30am.
