First of all, I mentioned to Wife that I saw this Thursday night, and she says we had already seen it a while back. She also said I probably fell asleep right away, but that the movie was ok. I thought it had great potential until it got bogged down in all that puppy love bullshit. I mean the guy understands that he is from another planet and some sort of special royalty/master race or something. There's a small crew of bad guys going around killing them in order, and they had just killed number three when the movie picked up. Number three was almost a teenager, so as a kid he was quick but no real challenge to the hunters with specialized weapons and even hunting animals that fly and look like dinosaurs.
Number Four has a guardian and he is quick to move them in order to keep them below radar and not get noticed. He spends his day deleting pics and captures on FB and all sorts of media plus he is a pretty good warrior, except he is only one and the bad guys travel in packs.
Four is having a good time at whatever high school he is at when one of his powers starts developing. His hands emit a light and have some sort of jedi force. He can move objects, capture them, speed them up, it comes in handy to save a girl from falling from a roof. This is enough for his guardian to decide they need to move once more. They end up in a rather interesting city. He befriends a boy whose dad has disappeared and it turns out, the dad may be helping the other numbered aliens. There is a big showdown when the bad guy aliens and the local ignorant sheriffs and busybodies all start trying to be the hero and try to capture number four. Meeting the real bad aliens is enough for the cops and the other troublemaking humans to realize number four wasn't so bad. Just in the nick of time, number six shows up and she is a bad ass who has even better control of her powers and she knows how to fight. Her power is to disappear and reappear in different places which is good to surprise the bad aliens to kill them.
I am not sure if there will be a part two, but the ending seemed to need it. Number Four decides to take the human teenage boy, his stepfather treats him like shit and he is not popular at school. Number Four saw enough at his dad's workplace that he does think he may be alive but had to go secretly to help them. They have a rock thing that maps out where the other alien kids are 5, 7, and up??? I don't know why I fell asleep the first time, this is the kind of movie I like, but I am glad I gave it a second chance, unknowingly.
